Marinette School Board approves budget

The Marinette School District approves a new budget. The school board held a special meeting Monday to vote on the district’s 2017-2018 budget, which was presented and discussed in full at the board’s regular meeting last week. Director of Business and Finance Brian Walters says although this year’s budget is balanced, two important factors led to a nearly- 9-percent increase in the district’s proposed property tax levy from the previous year. The Marinette School District approves a new budget. Under this budget, the total tax levy would rise to nine-point-two million dollars, while the district’s total expenditures and other financing uses come to just over 23-million dollars. The Marinette School Board unanimously approved the proposed 2017-2018 tax levy and budget as presented.
