The City of Menominee's tax roll issues are now spilling over into the county.
Tuesday, Menominee County Equalization Director Peggy Schroud informed the county commissioners over 3,000 of the city's tax roll adjustments in 2016 were found to be sporadic and without reason. Schroud says that this is uncharted territory for the city and county, and she hoping to get some guidance from the state on how to proceed with the 2017 taxes.
Meanwhile, Menominee City Manager Tony Graff provided an update on the city’s tax rolls at Wednesday’s Finance Committee meeting. Graff says Menominee has complied with the steps laid out in the state’s Audit of Minimum Assessing Requirements, and the city is on track to have its 2015 and 2016 tax rolls returned.
