Marinette Historic District Banner Fundraising Continues

Historic District BannersThis week at the City of Marinette Historic Preservation Commission meeting the commission discussed their ongoing fundraising efforts for the Historic Riverside Ave in the midst of other City fundraising efforts. The commission faced many obstacles throughout 2016 and the beginning of 2017 when it comes to raising monies for the Historic District. While they recently released a flyer showcasing the homes with rich history in the Historic District, they thought it would be beneficial to highlight Riverside Ave with weather resistant banners that can clearly showcase the Historic Districts uniqueness within the City of Marinette.

Upon chance, Dr.Daniel Kallgren, Chairperson of the Historic District Commission happened to send thank you letters to residents of the Historic District and mentioned the fundraising the commission was tackling in order to purchase banners for the district. This week he shared with the members of the commission that since the beginning of this year, the commission has received $1900.00 to use towards purchasing banners for the Historic District.

This now allows for the commission to purchase a portion of the banners for Riverside Ave. Commission Member, Keith Killen, provided the districts banner proof to the commission for a possible approval for when they had the funds available to purchase. However, although they are able to put the wheels in motion to begin a partial purchase of banners, fundraising continues for the remaining dollars that they need in order to reach their goal of having the banners purchased and on display before summer and especially for the Cabela's National Walleye Tournament in August.

If you are interested in donating towards the banners you can donate at Marinette City Hall or contact Marinette City Hall at 715-732-5120
