A Crivitz Man who was sent to Prison for a Murder-For-Hire Plot Dies in Prison.

dettmering courtRobert Dettmering, 76, pleaded no contest on January 20 and was convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide.

The Department of Corrections confirmed the death, saying Dettmering died Thursday evening and they have started an internal investigation.

Prosecutors say Dettmering offered a man $10,000 to kill his son and his son's wife in July of last year.

The man instead called the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice sent an agent posing as a hit man to meet at Dettmering's bar, Kranky Bob's. Dettmering was arrested when he offered the agent $1,000 as a down payment on the murders.

Dettmering said he was upset his son was selling property he had given him.

DeShay Morrow

It’s been a little over a week since newly appointed District Attorney DeShea Morrow stepped into her new role as Marinette County’s District Attorney and I was fortunate enough to catch up with D.A. DeShay in between court cases Tuesday morning.

Morrow says once she gets the lawyers on board she will proceed forward and execute a plan that she has in mind.

District Attorney DeShay Morrow is officially being sworn in as Marinette County District Attorney this Thursday at 3:45 p.m. by Judge Miron in Court Branch 1.

A decades old disappearance of a tavern owner in Marinette County comes to a close.

Marinette County Cold Case
In 1974 the disappearance of business owner Loren Monro who owned the Music box in Porterfield has come to a successful ending. Last week Friday, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve held a press conference regarding the missing man and what led to the re-opening of the case.

Sauve says he wanted to take a closer look using modern technology.

In 1974, Munro had an outstanding warrant for the sexual assault of a child and when he failed to appear for the charge, he was deemed to have disappeared under a suspicious circumstance. With the help from the F.B.II and the U.S. Navy the 43-year-old Marinette County warrant is rescinded and the case is now closed.

Could Menominee County finally be making progress in their search for a County Administrator?

Menominee County CourthouseIt looks as though Menominee County is taking the steps necessary to find the right fit for the County Administrator Position. At yesterday’s Menominee County Personnel Committee meeting the committee heard from various county employees and board members as to how it’s internally affecting Administrative Assistant Sherry DuPont. Recently Dupont addressed the County with an offer to step in as Interim Administrator until the board could decide their next course of action. Commissioner Bernie Lang says it seems as though each commissioner has their own agenda.

Lang says they should accept Sherry’s proposal in total, establish a wage, and hire a search firm to initiate the hiring process of the administrator.

After much discussion, the committee agreed to forward to the county board a motion to propose the hiring of Sherry as interim administrator and the hiring of an outside firm to search for a County Administrator.
