Marinette County has yet to make a decision to help fund the new Community Sports and Events Center.

Last month the City of Marinette attended the County Board of Supervisors meeting with the hopes that the County would join in the effort to help with the remaining one point five million dollars needed for the new Sports and Events Center. This request was moved to the County’s Finance Committee, after many supervisors raised concerns about how it would benefit the County as a whole. However, at Monday’s Finance Committee meeting, a decision still wasn’t made and it was tossed to the County’s Executive Committee for them to decide whether or not they would support the two low-interest loans to the City, for ten point five million dollars, instead of the original donation of one point five-million-dollars. The meeting of the Executive Committee is scheduled for 9am today at the Marinette County Courthouse.

A member from the Marinette Genealogy Group, Joan Pace, provided the committee with the groups idea of a Cemetery Walk in the Forest Home Cemetery later this year.

The Blood Center of Wisconsin says donors are urgently needed.give blood marinette menominee

The center provides blood to 56 hospitals and it's been getting fewer donations because the flu season is running longer than normal, and heavy snow earlier this month kept people from getting out. As a result, the Blood Center has had less than a one day supply of "O" negative blood for about the past week. If you would like to donate blood locally, you can do so  on April 7th at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.
